One night during his stay in Paris, Robert Langdon, a Harvard Graduate symbolist, finds himself woken up during the late hours of the night by the French police. They demand his help on a murder case of Mr. Neveu; a perplexing coded message has been found near the body in the Louvre and they need help deciphering it. What Robert does not know is that he is one of the main suspects. While at the Louvre unscrambling the code, Robert un-expectantly meets Sophie Neveu, the granddaughter of Mr. Neveu. She explains to him that her grandfather asked her to find Robert to help her uncover his secret. After much deliberation and convincing, Robert agrees to help Sophie to uncover what might be the greatest cover-ups in history—the Holy Grail.
In order to complete their mission, they go asking for help from Sir Leigh Teabing, a long old friend of Roberts and a Holy Grail fanatic who has spent his whole life searching for it. Who better would be able to help them? Once to Leigh’s home, Robert and Teabing explain to Sophie what the Holy Grail really is and explain how her grandfather was in an ancient organization call the Priory of Sons formally ran by none other than Da Vinci himself. Their main purpose is to protect the Holy Grail from the world and from anyone who would want to destroy it but that didn’t stop Da Vinci didn’t from bending the rules in his era and leaving clues in his works for anyone to decipher.
Once they finally figured out the codes Sophie’s grandfather left for them (clues to Da Vinci’s original codes), it leads them all to London. While there, a competitor to find the grail, the teacher, kidnaps Leigh. Sophie and Langdon are now a situation to tight to get out of and in saving Leigh they could destroy their previous efforts to find the grail. When they finally find the teachers and his real identity, it is a surprise no one could have predicted.
Along the way of their journey, Sophie and Robert find themselves running from the French Police, breaking into banks, flying across Europe, and fighting off “the teacher” who killed Mr. Nevue and threatens their lives in order to find this secret himself, but nothing can stop them from completing their quest and Mr. Nevue’s dying wish.
